Checked samples by sample type
Between October 10 – 25, 2019, 56 samples were checked: 82% (46) were substances and 18% (10) were used paraphernalia.
Checked samples by expected drug
When a sample is submitted to be checked, the drug that sample is expected to contain is recorded. Of the 56 samples checked between October 10 – 25, 2019:
- 11 were expected to be fentanyl
- 7 were expected to be MDMA
- 4 were expected to be a 2C class drug
- 4 were expected to be ketamine
- 3 were expected to be cocaine
- 3 were expected to be LSD
- 3 were expected to be methamphetamine
- 13 were expected to be other drugs, including: amphetamine, AMT, benzodiazepine, crack cocaine, DOM, GHB, heroin, mescaline, MiPLA, modafinil, O-PCE, and Percocet
- 2 were expected to be a polysubstance
- 6 did not have a stated expected drug
Expected fentanyl samples
Of the 56 samples checked between October 10 – 25, 2019, 20% (11) were expected to be fentanyl (55% were substances and 45% were used paraphernalia).
Presence of fentanyl in expected fentanyl samples (11)
- 27% (3) contained no fentanyl
- 73% (8) contained fentanyl and other drugs
Expected fentanyl samples containing fentanyl and other drugs (8)
Of the 11 samples expected to be fentanyl, 73% (8) contained fentanyl and other drugs. Other drugs found included:
- 100% (8) contained caffeine
- 63% (5) contained etizolam (benzodiazepine-related)*
- 38% (3) contained 6-MAM (heroin-related)
- 38% (3) contained despropionyl fentanyl (4-ANPP)*
- 25% (2) contained cocaine
- 25% (2) contained heroin
- 25% (2) contained phenacetin*
Other expected drug samples containing unexpected noteworthy drugs
Of the remaining 45 samples checked between October 10 – 25, 2019, meaning samples that were not expected to be fentanyl, 4% (2) contained one or more unexpected noteworthy drug. Unexpected noteworthy drugs found included:
- 33% (2) of samples that did not have a stated expected drug contained phenacetin*
- 17% (1) of samples that did not have a stated expected drug contained 3-MeO-PCP*
- 17% (1) of samples that did not have a stated expected drug contained fentanyl*
*Unexpected noteworthy drug: “Noteworthy drugs” are drugs that are highly potent, linked to overdose or other adverse effects, or may not be desired by some clients. Noteworthy drugs are called out when they are unexpectedly found in checked samples.
